Around twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, generating strong winds topping 109km/h.
Large Hailstones and Broad Damage
Locals observed large ice chunks reaching sizes of 7cm in particular locations. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were focused on reestablishing energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the widespread outages.
Victoria's Storm Challenges
Simultaneously, nearly one thousand households in the southern state also encountered energy failures after the capital city recorded its wettest day in a year and a half.
Rescue organizations responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k energy customers in the state were experiencing outages.
Climate Outlook
Moist weather were predicted to continue along much of Queensland's east this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tuesday was predicted as the heaviest precipitation period, with ongoing thunderstorm potential anticipated across various areas of both regions.
Medical Alert
Health officials cautioned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, specifically given the current weather patterns.
This warning comes after past events where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the region.
